My Values

As a care provider, I believe it is my job to work with parents. Any differences can be worked out by keeping communication open with each person showing mutual respect. I believe that family is all-important, and I believe that there is a place for everyone and everyone should be entitled to the same opportunities.

I value politeness, good manners and respect and I believe that treating children with respect and kindness brings out the best in them. I really enjoy working with children who need extra help with their speech and language development, and I take great pride in the milestones we achieve along the way.

A day in my Care

Our mornings are very relaxed, with the children spending time both inside and outside. As I live on acreage, a lot of time is spent outdoors. Some of the fun things that we often do include: exploring, playing physical games, running, climbing, playing with balls, gardening, and bike riding.

We also include a number of indoor activities, including songs, rhymes, stories, using crayons, cutting and pasting, dramatic play, concerts, speech games, and playing with a variety of age-appropriate toys.

We have two lunches in the day. The first is at 10.30am, and often lasts for over an hour, as it is a very sociable occasion. This gives the children time to interact with both myself and the other children in care. We do lots and lots of talking in my house, and I find that the children in my care become really good talkers.

Following lunch, we usually read books or watch a short video (we pretend we are at the movies), to help the children prepare for rest time. The children wake at their own leisure, and have their second lunch. Then the children play indoors and outdoors, depending on the weather. After a very full day, we all help to clean up the mess, and we prepare for pick-up by parents.
