POLICY

Where a child has developed a pattern of biting behaviour, every effort will be made to manage the behaviour in a way that preserves the child’s self esteem, and minimises the occurrence of the behaviour.

PROCEDURE

·       Where a child is biting at playgroup all Carers will make themselves aware of the management plan from the Carer responsible for the child and support the plan

·        The Coordinator will take responsibility to inform families/guardians of incidents of biting where the skin

      has  been broken.

·       In situations where the parent/guardian wishes the child to have immediate medical attention but is      unable to take the child to the doctor, the Coordinator will cover while the Carer seeks medical attention for the child with the bite

·         The Coordination team will support the Carer in developing a management plan with strategies to

      minimise the biting behaviour
