5.2       CARERS COMING TOGETHER

POLICY

 

If a carer regularly participates in providing care at a home or other place in company with one or more other carers, they must advise the scheme in advance. Any provision of care where carers come together must be in accordance with the limits of the Child Care Regulation 2003 as set out.

 

PROCEDURES

 

a)                 Travelling time is to be disregarded in calculating the length of a period of care.

 

b)                 Two carers may provide care at a place for no more than three (3) hours in a day.

 

c)                  Three or more carers may provide care at a place for not more than three hours in a day, with not more than sixteen (16) children. This care must not occur more than three (3) times in one week for each child.

 

d)                 If combined care with three or more carers is provided in the presence of a  co-ordinator, or at an approved Playgroup, this care may occur not more than three (3) times in one week for each child.

 

e)                  An excursion/outing of over three (3) hours involving combined care must not occur more than once in a week for each child.

 

f)                    Any provision of combined care must meet all other excursion/outing requirements

 

a)                 If an Excursion/outing is to last longer than three (3) hours the following adult/child ratios apply:

 

·         One adult per two children under three (3) years.

·         One adult per four children of at least three (3) years but who are not school children

·         One adult per eight (8) school aged children

·         Carer’s own children are counted in these numbers.
