My Values

I decided to become a Family Day Care Provider because I enjoy providing a safe, nurturing and fun environment in which children can learn and grow. My son and I share a lovely big home that has plenty of room to play, and we would love to share our home with some new friends.

I believe that childhood should be cherished; and that to play a positive role in a child’s life is one of the most important things a person can do.

A day in my care

A
day in my care includes imaginative, creative, constructive and free play... Just the right blends of structure and flexibility so that children feel secure, knowing what to expect.  I observe and support each child’s individual routines, with appropriate times set for quiet play - perhaps with a cuddle and a story in our Cozy Cushion Corner leading up to nap time, and more stimulating, adventurous outdoor play afterwards.

We will have lots of fun, with plenty of enriching activities set in a colorful, welcoming and tranquil home environment. My home backs onto park land with a footpath running right beside my fence so we can easily take walks in the nice shady park.

I have a large undercover outdoor play area where we can do activities such as chalk drawing, finger painting, sand and water play, home corner, easel painting, imaginary cooking with a real wok and utensils, and there is even a full shop set up complete with trolleys, groceries and cash registers!

I also have a veggie garden designed for children’s participation, which in my past experience, has been a huge hit with the kids and a big winner in the kitchen too when it comes to getting those veggies eaten.

We will have regular outings to play group and other carefully selected play locations, as well as regular walks in 'our very own' park!

My home features treasures from various cultures; for example, Tibetan Prayer Flags, Aboriginal Rain Sticks, Peruvian musical instruments, Mexican Maracas & Blankets and Himalayan Salt Lamps.

I am open to and interested in all cultures and belief systems. I embrace children of all ages and backgrounds. Children with special needs are particularly welcome in my home, as I have experience with a range of exceptional children who happen to have had special needs. In fact I named my son Joshua after a wonderful little man with aspersers, who left a permanent impression on my heart when I was lucky enough to care for him years ago.

We welcome you to our home, and look forward to meeting you in person.
