My Values |
|
After a busy career in healthcare management, I decided to pursue a career in child care. I have chosen family day care as I believe it allows the opportunity to interact more effectively with children, and to help develop and encourage learning through fun and exciting activities. Coming from a large family, I have spent most of my life caring for many children which has given me much pleasure. I enjoy interacting with children on both a social and developmental level. I have good values and will always display and encourage these values while children are in my care. These values include: always using good manners, appreciating each other, being kind to each other and using our words to communicate. I believe that children behave well when provided with clear boundaries and when treated with fairness. I believe that a structured routine helps children to settle into a different environment to home.
Positive encouragement and recognition of
good behaviour are very important. Children love to know when
they have done well and I love letting them know they have done
well. I understand that sometimes children can have challenging
days and I will strive to help them through these days with
positive thoughts and encouragement |

A day in my care |
|
I always aim to maintain a structured routine that encourages fun and exciting days filled with lots of activities. I enjoy providing stimulation for children in a playful environment that encourages learning and development. In general, morning times include some outdoor activities, a variety of craft activities and dress up. Depending on how everyone is we may also on some days go for a little stroll to the park across the road. After lunch, we have a quiet time which allows some time for children to sleep or have quiet play to recharge for their afternoon. Afternoon tea is time for the children to learn through free play allowing them the opportunity to express themselves through their choice of activity. This time can also be spent playing outside in the big back yard.
Every Friday
is playgroup day, on which we visit Redlands Play group, where the
children have the opportunity to interact with other children and
learn new activities. Redlands Playgroup Manly Playgroup
