My Values |
|
I believe that children are the future, and that if we guide them to make good decisions and actions, they will in turn show virtuous behaviour as an adult -- for example, compassion, love, independence, loyalty, and friendship. I have played many sports including netball, soccer, swimming and bike riding. I also enjoy singing, Irish dancing, and playing the tin whistle and drums, which I do professionally. I look forward to sharing and teaching many educationally valuable things -- including these fun activities --with your children in my care.

A day in my care |
|
In the morning when children arrive, there is a 'settling-in' period in which children are given time to detach from parents, and to settle into the day, in a way best for both parent and child. This is also a time for children who have not had breakfast to enjoy their food in a calm and relaxed manner. Then comes time for indoor play; where children can quietly read a book, manipulate play dough, paint, draw and generally just build on their fine motor skills. This is also a time for sleep for the tired ones, hat and sunscreen application, and those nappies that need to be changed. To wait for the sunscreen to sink in, we share morning tea. After our tummies have been filled it is now time to use up energy and have some outdoor fun. This is where children develop mostly gross motor skills - for example, running, walking, playing sports and many others. I have also incorporated music time for children who want to experience or make loud noises. Children normally get hungry and tired after all that exercise, so lunch time arrives for the children --and a sleep / rest, or just general quiet time. Following that, nappies will be changed, bottles will be given and another load of sunscreen and a hat will be applied before outside time. There is then more outside time for children to finish off activities and for those still hungry will be given afternoon tea. If children then have more energy, there is inside play, to prepare children with some quieter involvements before parents pick them up. Every fortnight, there is a theme where children can learn about different aspects of life e.g. history (dinosaurs) to the present (shopping), and many more. There are many more valuable learning and play experiences on offer for children of parents who choose to place their child in my home day care service.
I look forward to developing a relationship with every child in my
care - and with you, their parents. |
